Shot this using a golden reflector right behind Maina and bounced a flash into it. I was trying to recreate the sun that was hitting her in the same spot a few minutes before it dipped down below the horizon. It isn't "picture perfect" or anything and I find myself angry at my camera for going el grainy as soon as the sensor has to taste a bigger challenge than it would like to. But I really like the big orange moon and the golden light hitting Maina on her back, which is why it deserves a little time in the spotlight.A thing that it is ocurring more and more is the reaching for the reflectors, as I don't find myself restrained by the fact that people might look at us funny and wonder what the hell we are doing. So for the future there will be more practice with the reflectors and flashes!

Mainas new hairrrr

My girlfriend Maina came home with a different "hair" the other day. It turned out really great so I decided I wanted to take a photograph of her in it. After some posing we started trying different poses and face expressions. This one really makes me smile every time I see the photograph, mostly because it isn't a very familiar face. We used a reflector to the side and below to start with but this one just has a reflector below her face to increase contrast and to make the focus of the picture her mouth.

Hope you atleast enjoy this photograph, I enjoyed making it atleast!

My grandfather

My grandfather apparantly used to be a photographer, I didn't know this until earlier this year. The subject never came up during our family gatherings and I think he stopped before I was born. Now it is often a topic up for discussion, which might have something to do with me bringing my camera everywhere. I know he always carried a creative spirit within him. Besides photography he used to do fine detail carpenting and still writes articles for a magazine depicting the yesteryears in the area where they live. Something I remember vividly about him from when I was a child, was the great stories about vikings that he told with such passion and detailed descriptions. I shot this photograph in ambient light and in retrospect I should have brought a reflector with me to light up his face and to give that spark in the eyes.

Old cans and new plans

My grandparents(mostly my grandfather) used to collect vintage cans/jars, but in their older days they have tried to sell them. But there still is a pretty big collection at their house. The two cans in the photograph are probably my favorites. I think they used to hold cookies, I will have to ask them about it the next time I meet them.

#2/2 of the images I sent in to the competition.

I usually do not take very much architectual images, so I think this photowalk expanded my horizons abit even if I didn't photograph people.

Dripping upwards?

I went on the Scott Kelby World Wide Photowalk cirka 2 weeks ago and it was a really nice experience. I mean I have seen Malmö before it's just that you got to meet other people who are as interested in photography as you are. Which makes it easy to talk about all the things you have incommon. I wish I had done abit like the other Björn on the photowalk and tried to capture people instead of small details on buildings. But hey you live and you learn! You were allowed to send in two photographs to be in the competition after the Scott Kelby Photowalk. This here is #1/2. Tomorrow I will post #2/2.

This is an image shot with flash, was hoping I could freeze the drops abit more. But turns out that the hot shoe on my camera refuses to tell non TTL flashes to fire on the second curtain and that is why the streaks are below the big drips. If anyone has any clue to why, I would love to know.

Did a test with a flash I had discovered in Dalarna during my visit. Wish I could get it to fire at the 2nd curtain instead of the first...

I feel I couldn't catch what my eyes saw when the sun rose above these roofs. I stopped in my tracks and looked around to see if there was someone else out that could see it. All I found was a poor kitten that looked at me with a confused look.
